camping gear and setup

I drive a 2007 Toyota 4 Runner SUV, I bought this a while ago to pull my Viking Ultra Light trailer. It has served me well over the years and you can get a full review on the how capable the 4 runner's are on the web.

I wanted a go camping anywhere setup and be comfortable while doing it.  I looked at Off Road Trailers but nothing really made sense and YouTube Videos looking for ideas on what people where doing and found some wonderful people having the time of their life's travelling the world.i wasn't going to drop a bundle .I started looking at Roof Top Tents and reading reviews and watching

This lead Smittybilt Roof Top tent but before I could buy one I had to figure out how i was going to mount it on my SUV. My Toyota didn't come with with roof rails but had mounting brackets to mount rails. I looked at getting rails but again most people advised to get a proper roof rack. Ran into a snag and couldn't find anything that didn't require drilling holes on the roof to mount the roof rack.to me to

Then just by chance after nearly giving up and drilling holes , someone was selling a Tepui Roof top Tent mounted on the Same year 4 runner as mine and he was also selling the roof rack.  This lead me to Prinsu design studios and they were making custom roof racks for my vehicle.  They are in the US but decided to buy and they turned out to be cheaper that any other options I had.

With the Roof Rack Mounted i decided to start looking for a Roof Top tent that would work for me and the family. Looked at the Tepui Kukamen but after looking at all the pros and cons and also didn't want to  break the bank.  Decided to purchase the Smittybilt setup and bought it in fall and got a deal.
